How do I contact the on-call doctor if I think I have an emergency that cannot wait until the next work day?
For most concerns you may wait until the next day to schedule an immediate appointment to manage your urgent need. However, if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, please call (865)331-1122 to speak with the physician on call.
If you are pregnant:
- Your water has broken
- Bleeding beyond 20 weeks
- You are in labor
If you have recently had surgery:
- Running a fever more than 100.4 degrees
- Experiencing severe pain, persistent nausea and vomiting, or heavy bleeding
Should I go to the hospital if I bleed early in pregnancy?
Some bleeding is completely normal and is not an emergency. If you experience bleeding during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy, please call the office the next business day to talk with one of our nurses.
If I am instructed to go to the hospital, where do I go?
For life threatening emergencies, call 9-1-1 or go to hospital closest to you. If your situation is urgent, but not life threatening, go to Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center at 1901 Clinch Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37916 where all of our physicians have staff privileges and where you will find the Fort Sanders Women’s Specialists doctor on call. The main phone number at the hospital is (865)541-1111.
Is there a way to make my office visit go faster?
Yes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early prior to your scheduled appointment and bring your photo ID and current health insurance information. On your first visit, you will be asked to fill out registration forms. You may choose to pre-register by downloading, printing and completing these forms and bringing them to your appointment. Completing the forms prior to your visit will help speed up the new patient registration process.
